A couple fun Mom-isms

I had a conversation with Brayden's Monday Night babysitter who watches him while I help out at youth group, and she asked me if I understood what Brayden was saying when he talked, and then I had one of those, "Wow, I am really a Mom" moments. I know that probably sounds dumb, even after 2+ years of being a Mom, but every now and then I have one of these so-said moments.  This moment was the one where I realized I was "that" Mom who could answer yes, I do understand what he's saying most of the time. I understand at least what Brayden is talking about, even if there is a lot of jibber jabber thrown all around it. I can usually make out the part about his grandparents, Mommy, Daddy, Bear, the Puppy, Buzz and Woody, cars, etc. And then I remembered being "the" babysitter, the one who asked parents that because I had no idea what their kid was saying. Anyways, it was a heart warming moment to realize I'm "that" Mom :)

Another one, we had an item in the car (which now, of course, I can't remember what it was) that was the shape of a diamond.  And I was driving, and I kept hearing Brayden asking for something, and, after posting the paragraph above, it frustrated me that I didn't know what he was saying. Looking through my rear-view mirror, I saw him point to whatever it was, I think a piece of cardboard or something, and say it again "die-muhn" and then I realized what he wanted, reached back and handed it to him and thought, Wow! He knows what a diamond is! Where in the hek did he learn that from? We have one shapes puzzle that we do from time to time and that's the only place I could come up with him learning the word and shape. So tonight I put him to the test by going over a shapes book we have in his little library, and was pretty darn shocked to hear him say, heart, triangle, circle and square when I pointed to the various shapes, and he got them right almost the entire time! He also knows octagon, which I am having a hard time trying to tell Mike that Brayden did NOT learn that from UFC ;-)!!

And the last batch!

The three of us on the tractor hay bale ride!

Still clutching on to that horse :)

Some of the beautiful scenery

Loved this shot of the cow by the pond with the dreary sky!

Brayden going through the hay maze, he loved it!

Looking for their pumpkins! It was the first pumpkin patch I have been too that you can pick your pumpkin right off the vine!

Can you find Brayden? :)

Wemple's Pumpkin Patch

Here's Super Dad running around with Brayden. Brayden was NOT in a good mood when we first got to the pumpkin patch due to falling asleep in the car, minutes before we had to get him out, THREE separate times (I wouldn't have been happy either!) But Super Dad handled it perfectly and took Brayden off alone with him to go play on the slides and run around to get him out of his funk. I attribute Brayden being so great the rest of the day to Mike's early intervention :)

"Cheese"ing it up.  This is one of the not "Popeye" looking pics which Brayden tends to do these days but squinting and shutting one eye when we tell him to say Cheese!

Ready to go in the John Deere Wagon! Cutest darn Choo Choo Train I've ever seen :)

Brayden's Play-yard

Why do I always look like I have no makeup on? I mean, I don't wear much but I do wear eyeshadow and mascara everyday, and have I told you lately how much I dislike my smile? Ok, sorry, look at me and my little boy :) When I see him with Mike, I think he looks SO much like him, but when I see him with me I think he looks SO much like me!

Brayden's fun little play yard courtesy of Mike's extremely hard work. Minus the propane tank (ugh how I hate it being smack dab in our yard). This is one blessed little boy!

And, playing in his play-yard that is courtesy of Daddy, now only sliding backwards thanks to Daddy! Sigh! Boys will be boys!

Deputy in Training

Wanted to try on Daddy's hat

Trying to walk like a cop!

Things to Look Forward too...

I'm going to start taking part in a few fun weekly blog "events" that I have enjoyed checking out on other people's blogs.  So in the coming weeks, look forward to:

  • Wordless Wednesdays - one picture that needs no words
  • Thanksgiving Thursdays - a short post about something I'm thankful for
  • Scavenger Hunt Sundays - this might take me a little while longer to get into, but I love these posts some of my girlfriends take part in, there are 5 "subjects" to take pictures of and post them each Sunday!

The Latest Happenings

Since we've been out of the blogosphere for a few weeks, let's see what I can update you on:

  • Our truck is still in the shop and the latest news is that it looks like our insurance will not be covering any of the costs for repairs. Bummer, but life goes on, there are bigger fish to fry!
  • Mike's doing great at work and we are loving knowing we have at least the next 4 months of a set schedule (they re-evaluate schedules every 4 months)
  • Brayden's a ham and picking up new words every single day. I want to call him Sponge-Bray SquarePants, despite the fact I despise that show.
  • We have now beaten another cold.  I've decided we should look at getting and getting over colds as an accomplishment rather than an inconvience. I mean, we get them often enough, we might as well look at them in a positive light! So, in that regards, we've almost knocked this cold out of the park!!
  • We're hoping to take a trip to the Pumpkin Patch this coming Friday with all of Mike's family for the first time, ever! Should be fun and I'm hoping to get some great pictures!
I've got some new pictures to post and will be posting those within the next day! So stay tuned!

We're baaaaaaccckkkkkk!!!

And, on a side note, a huge thank you to my sister-in-law Spring, for my beautiful header along with the other awesome ones she made! And thanks to her for all the help with all the new blogger controls that I can't quite get the hang of yet!

We're back

Blogger and I seem to have a love/hate relationship. I love that blogger is where I started blogging some 4ish years ago (crazy huh!) and I love that I am familiar with it. I hate that blogger makes it so difficult to privatize one's blog and that it also has a "picture cap" for how many pictures you can upload to your blog, no matter if that amount is pretty darn high. But, in a true "difficult relationship" way, blogger and I are back together, haha. I tried out tumblr for the password protection it provided, but I found that I wasn't blogging nearly as much as I would have liked too, just because some of the tumblr settings were quite difficult to get used too. The biggest example of this, is that I use picasa to edit, view, store pictures on our laptop, and through Picasa, I can pick four pictures at a time, and it automatically uploads them to my blog, I can write a few words, and wa-lah, you have a post. It's the ease of that fact right there, that has outweighed all the other criteria. So, we're back here indefinietely, though some things I say might not be as forthcoming about Mike's job, because we are going to keep this a public forum. So, like we used to change addresses back in our Navy days like we changed the toilet paper (sorry, bad pun), we're changing the blog this last time. Please bookmark it and come back to visit us!!
